Creating an eco-friendly outdoors activity 

INFORMATIONAL BROCHURE 

WEBQUEST 




INTRODUCTION

We all love nature! What is best that going to a remote area with fresh air alone or with some friends? 
Have you ever thought that there are plenty of things that one can do in the nature? Well, there are more than you can even imagine. 
Let's say, for example... traveling on a hot air balloon around the Norwegian Fjords...
 WHAT AN ADVENTURE!
So... let immerse ourselves in this amazing world and discover new and incredible experiences that will change our lives, but REMEMBER nature is fragile and it is our responsibility to keep it healthy. 
So... DON'T FORGET THIS 

ENJOY THE PLANET NATURAL RESOURCES AS MUCH AS YOU CAN,  BUT RESPECT THEM ALWAYS 

TASK

This task is based on a WebQuest. This means that in order to complete it, it is fundamental to follow all the steps presented in this and the following sections (task and process). 

To start with, we will define the main goal of the task: 
In this unit:

1. We are going to work on the creation of a brochure. 

2. In this brochure we will present a natural resource in different English Speaking countries and Andalucía and then, we are going to organize a sport activity or experience that respect the environment and that can be offered to visitors. 

3. The brochure will include pictures and a description of the natural area and all the details regarding the eco-friendly outdoors activity that the group has organized (place, n. of people participating, prices, eco-friendly aspects etc.) 

4. Presentation of the brochure to the rest of the class. 

PROCESS

Day 1 : Planning, description of the task and creation of groups: go to section 'task' 

Grouping: 

Group 1: Caminito del Rey and Hiking 
Group 2: Great Canyon and climbing 
Group 3: Great Barrier Reef and Diving 
Group 4:  Sierra Nevada and Skiing 
Group 5:  Zambezi river and Rafting 

Day 2: All the class read the WebQuest together, presentation of models and groups set their own goals and the format they are going to follow.

Day 3: Do some research on the places and activities. Here you have the links you might want to use.

Day 4: Gather all the information you have and start organizing and writing the contents. 

Day 5: Use different online platforms to create the brochure and work on the format in order to create a tangible product. 


Day 6: check last details and start rehearsing the oral presentation. 

Day 7:  Present your final product. 

- Groups present tasks: 12 minutes per group: each student speaks for 2 min. 
- Complete the peer assessment sheet.

The following rubrics can help you understand what the goals of the task are. 

Be aware that this rubrics needs only to be understood as a reference for the class groups and won't be decisive for the student's grades.

I really hope you have enjoyed the process and that you have learnt many aspects related to the nature, eco-friendly activities, new sports and, of course, plenty of ENGLISH.
